Hearing aids are small electronic devices worn in or behind the ear to amplify sound for individuals with hearing loss. These devices consist of a microphone, sound system equipment, and speaker, and work by taking control of sound, increasing its sound level, and delivering it directly into the ear. Modern hearing aids are highly customizable and can be programmed to match the clearly stated hearing needs of the user, offering features such as noise reduction, directional microphones, and wireless connectivity to smartphones and other devices.
Surgery may be necessary if you've had a traumatic ear injury or repeated infections that require the insertion of small tubes that help the ears drain. The most often used surgical procedure is a stapledectomy. It includes replacement of the fixed stapes suprastructure by a teflon piston. Surgical treatment has immediate improvement on table and post-operative recovery is usually fast.
Wax blockage removal: Earwax blockage is a reversible cause of hearing loss. Your doctor may remove earwax by loosening it with oil and then flushing, scooping or suctioning out the softened wax.
